On the trail

Tolvsteinsringen (the twelve stone ring) is one of the most distinctive historical memories along Mjøsa. 12 stones are placed in a big circle and gives us a glimpse into what must have been a crafty society in the late iron ages. Each stone weighs approx. 7 tonnes!

It is believed that a wealthy person of high status was burned and buried in the center of the circle. During the registration in 1902 they also found three smaller circles northeast of the big one.

This is a nice place to take a short rest.
